RainCaper is dedicated to bringing you artfully inspired gifts for the home & entertaining, as well as smart travel essentials for your lifestyle. Our designer Jan opened a retail store called Flag Lady Gifts in 1992 and she and her daughter Lindsay loved serving local customers for 24 years. It was a wonderful and rewarding time and we enjoyed being a part of our local small business economy.
After closing the store, we launched RainCaper in 2016 with just six colors. We have continued to launch new product collections of travel accessories: Classic & Fine Art travel capes, touch screen gloves, two umbrella styles, and WarmCaper for cooler weather. In 2021, we launched Accent, a line of thoughtfully designed gifts for home & entertaining.
We're proud to work with hundreds of independent retailers across the country that carry RainCaper. RainCaper is an active member of the Museum Store Association, and many of our custom designs can be found in museums and cultural institutions throughout the country. Our family-run business is located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. We are here to serve you, so please reach out at any time!
Jan & Lindsay
RainCaper by Gazebo Green
Jan is the Designer behind the gorgeous RainCaper prints, and she loves creating custom capes, umbrellas, and other products for many of our stores and museums. Perhaps most importantly, she's Lindsay's mother, and the visionary force behind RainCaper. Jan and her husband are art aficionados. They have a particular soft spot for the American Impressionism school of art, including artists that you'll see represented at RainCaper such as Louis C. Tiffany, Childe Hassam, and Maurice Prendergast. They also appreciate hyperlocal Pennsylvania Impressionists, including Walter Schofield, Fern Coppedge, William Glackens, and Edward Redfield.
Lindsay keeps things running smoothly and loves networking, managing relationships, and systems improvement. Lindsay enjoys fabulous food, cooking, and has tried her hand at winemaking, sourdough baking, applesauce, and fresh jams. She and her husband met while playing rugby at Northwestern, and they raise their three daughters outside of Philadelphia. She's mostly retired from rugby, and frequents a local family-owned gym instead.
Jaime has been working as a product and graphic designer for almost 20 years in Toronto, Canada. She loves taking on new artistic challenges and always tries to bring a little bit of fun to every project. She is a terrible cook but makes up for it with an extensive UberEats repertoire. She also really loves dogs. (To play with, not to eat.)
Sydney is a hurricane of energy, and answers every phone call with a positive attitude. If there is something she can't do around the office, we haven't found it yet! She loves dogs, really good beer, and oversized scarves.
Jen is RainCaper's first employee, and has worked here since the brand was born in 2016. She handles most of our wholesale order entry and is a jill-of-all-trades behind the scenes, working hard to keep our online listings accurate. Jen is also a renowned local baker who creates gorgeous cakes and donuts for her community in the Philippines.
Lisa comes to RainCaper with 15 years’ experience in the wholesale and retail industries. She is passionate about providing excellent customer service and meeting your needs! In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, trying out new restaurants, hiking through the beautiful Vermont wilderness, and traveling.
Samantha is our supply chain and operations aficionado. She resides in Alaska with her husband, daughter, and Bernese Mountain Dog. She is a graduate of Appalachian State University and enjoys reading, hiking and traveling. One of her favorite trips was visiting the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam!
Savannah Reich is a playwright, screenwriter and theater maker living in West Philadelphia. In addition to serving as an Executive Assistant to Lindsay and Jan, she teaches screenwriting at the University of the Arts. In her free time she can be found exploring the city on her bike and trying (with mixed success) to learn to make Indian food.
