This lunch tote features Leonardo Da Vinci’s iconic Mona Lisa. In 1503, Da Vinci was commissioned to paint a portrait of the noblewoman Lisa del Giocondo, the wife of a wealthy silk merchant, to celebrate the birth of her second child. The Italian name of the painting,La Gioconda, is a pun on the subject’s name that also means “the happy one”.

The painting is now in the collection of the Louvre, where it has been on permanent display since 1797. Over 500 years after Da Vinci painted her, Mona Lisa’s subtle smile and frank gaze make this painting feel as fresh and immediate as the day it was completed.
