RainCaper is dedicated to bringing you artfully inspired gifts for the home, as well as clever travel essentials that complement your lifestyle. Co-Owner Jan opened & operated Flag Lady Gifts, a successful gift store in the Philadelphia suburbs for 24 years. Her daughter Lindsay learned about small business ownership by working with Jan for years, and they both loved being part of a vibrant small business community.
After closing the store, Jan & Lindsay co-founded RainCaper in 2016 with just six colors of travel capes. RainCaper has continued to introduce gorgeous fine art capes and launch new product collections of travel accessories: touch screen gloves, two umbrella styles, shawls, scarves, and gold-plated cuffs. In 2021, we launched Accent, a line of thoughtfully designed gifts for home & entertaining. In 2023, RainCaper released an exciting product collaboration featuring the bold, bright art of Laurel Burch
We're proud to work with hundreds of independent retailers across the country that carry RainCaper. RainCaper is also an active member of the Museum Store Association, and many of our custom designs can be found in museums and cultural institutions throughout the country. Our family-run business is located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. We are here to serve you, so please reach out at any time!
Best regards,
Jan & Lindsay

Jan is the Designer behind the gorgeous RainCaper prints, and she loves creating custom capes, umbrellas, and other products for many of our stores and museums. Perhaps most importantly, she's Lindsay's mother, and the visionary force behind RainCaper. Jan and her husband are art aficionados. They have a particular soft spot for the American Impressionism school of art, including artists that you'll see represented at RainCaper such as Louis C. Tiffany, Childe Hassam, and Maurice Prendergast. They also appreciate hyperlocal Pennsylvania Impressionists, including Walter Schofield, Fern Coppedge, William Glackens, and Edward Redfield.
Lindsay keeps things running smoothly and loves networking, managing relationships, and systems improvement. Lindsay enjoys fabulous food, cooking, and has tried her hand at winemaking, sourdough baking, applesauce, and fresh jams. She and her husband met while playing rugby at Northwestern, and they raise their three daughters outside of Philadelphia. She's mostly retired from rugby, and frequents a local family-owned gym instead.
